Black Forest Gateau inspired, luxurious sour. Packed full of cherries, raspberries, vanilla beans and cacao nibs. Bursting with flavours of this wintery dessert, but with the bright fresjhness of a Garage sour. Backflips drinks with a more balanced acidity than we normally shoot for to allow the other flavours to have their time in the limelight. A pale sour base with plenty of Munich malt and a touch of Biscuit and Caramel Malts give this beer some chewy pie crust vibes. Aromas of red berries, chocolate and vanilla sit in harmony with an extremely rich body from lashings of flaked oats and just enough lactose to give an incredibly smooth and decadent feel while the acidity is just enough to stop things getting too sweet.

Can at home. Pours glowing ruby with a quickly disappearing pink head. Nose is raspberry and sour cherry with a hint of vanilla, light to moderate sourness. Taste is lightly sour fruity upfront, some raspberry but mainly cherries, then the sourness fades and turns into lactosey sweetness. It shows some bready malts and the cocoa nibs also show up at last in the finish. It has a medium to full body and light to average carbonation. It does have a dessert vibe but not as much as I hoped for. Still a solid sour tho.

(Draught at Tritonia/Barrels, Stockholm, 31 July 2021) Dark red colour with frothy, pink head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of black-currant, red fruit, vanilla and hints of cacao. Fruity, tart taste with black-currant, blackberries and vanilla. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Fruity, tart and really tasty. Very nice.

Can from Gedeelde Vreugde. Hazy red, thin, pinkish head. Aroma of fruit cake, raspberry jam, cherry, strawberry, ganache, yoghurt, vanilla, sour cream. Taste has sweet-sour raspberry & cherry, nicely balanced; yoghurty & sour-creamy maltiness with an edge of chocolate powder, touch vanilla. Tart fruity finish, fruit cake-like, lingering red fruits & cream. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Very nice 'next-level' BW, all components connect well.

Süffiger, intensiv fruchtiger Beginn. Kirsche, Vanille, moderate Säure, angenehm würzig, langer spritzig fruchtiger Mittelteil, vollmundig. Langer fruchtiger Abgang. Lecker! 12/11/10/11/10/11

440ml can. Pours a vibrant ruby red, slightly hazy, loose pink head disappearing very quickly. Aroma of sour cherries and raspberry, a little vanilla. Taste of juicy berries, raspberry and sour cherries, creamy vanilla, didn't get the chocolate at first but it is there, quite subtle, mildly acidic and sour. Medium bodied, well hidden alcohol. While the chocolate was subtle the flavour profile worked really nicely.
