Keg at the Hanging Bat. Better. Surprisingly better. +2. Bottle shared at home - cheers Steven! Pours jet black with a good beige-brown head. Nose has a touch of smoke, otherwise bit stout roast flavours. Tastes just superb, and a finish that goes on and on and on and on. And on.

Bottle from Villeneuve Wines, Peebles Bottle BBE 1/11/12 071112 Black, big dense tan head, good lacing Aroma - smooth very mellow roasted malts, dab of yeast, hint of alcohol Taste - smooth roasted malts, dark malts, some chocolate malts Palate - soft carb, full body, viscous, rich smooth texture. Finish - rich smooth luxuriant mouthfeel, dark rich malts, touch of nuttiness in the tail with some warming alcohol Overall - This stout has an excellent rich full body, but the flavour is somewhat underwhelming, it doesn?t match the rich body, but more flavour comes through in the finish. Just misses a 4 for me.

Sampled @ Monthly De Molen Tasting. Almost pitch black colored, medium sized beige to light brown head that disappears quickly. Smell malts, grains, dark and roasted malts, oatmeal. Taste dark and roasted malts, lightly bitter, some alcohol. A bit unbalanced, but not bad.

50cl bottle. Pours opaque black with a fawn cream head which reduces to a thin layer of lace. The nose has dark chocolate going into a hint of cherry liqueur - no nuts though. The taste is extremely chocolatey, just a hint of nuts in the background, then a long charcoal note towards the end. The palate is medium to full bodied with a rich creamy texture and a long creamy persistent finish. Overall, a big rich, persistent beer though not as many layers of flavour.
