An English Ale with a distinctive flavour of dark toffee and caramel combined with a crisp bitterness derived from using rare Bramling Cross hops. Tropical and berry fruits from the mix of hops, in particular the rare Bramling Cross which adds black and redcurrants. Challenger in the boiling copper gives robust bitterness and this is balanced by the sweetness from the pale and crystal malts. (Bottle 4.7%)

500ml bottle - Pours medium brown with a very thin head. It has a mostly caramel malt smell. The flavor is caramel malts and mild hops and the body is a little too watery. The finish is dry. This bottle was also too old as it tasted flat rather than crisp. Iโll try not to mark off too much for age, but the fact that this beer is in a clear bottle and thus very prone to being light struck is the brewerโs fault. I donโt understand why so many English bottlers do that. Youโd think they would care about preserving the quality of their ales and that that would include protecting it from light.

500ml bottle. Clear amber with a white head; good hoppy nose; in the mouth the bitterness predominates, although there is an underlying fruitiness; full bitter finish.

Soapy head tops a copper-brown pint. This is slightly carbonated (from 500ml can). Taste is dry and bitter. The bitter hop is the dominant flavour and it does tend to dry the pallet out somewhat. The lighter floral aftertaste is relieving.

Bottle. Deep red/brown coor with a dense off-white small head. Aromas are light malts with a soft fruitiness. Earthy and dry with floral hopping. Flavours are dry biscuit malts with some fruit. Dry on the finish. A bit thin in flavour.

Slightly hazy amber color, with a small white head. Aroma is a little fruity, with some toffee flavors. Nice hop flavor.

Bottled(500ml). -Clear amber coloured, small white head, perfumy fruity nose. Aroma is fruity, slight herbal and nutty with earthy and toffee notes. Dry bitter finish with long apple aftertaste. Real english bitter.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 6 Oct) Amber colour with frothy off-white head. Fruity nose with caramel, notes of rubber and a nice earthy hop aroma. Fruity taste with caramel, rubber and a distinct earthy hop character in the finish. Not really complex, but the hoppy taste is quite enjoyable. (6/3/7/4/14=3.4) Rerate: (Can, 22 Feb 2023) Reddish amber colour with creamy, tan head. Malty nose with notes of treacle toffee, wort bread, dates, orange peel and spicy/earthy hops. Malty taste with wort, bread, treacle toffee, caramel, dried fruit, orange peel and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Not really exciting, but still a pretty decent and well made bitter. Nice one.

Poured a light brown with a bubbly light brown head. Sour leafy like aroma. Dry taste that reminded me of tea and leafs, finished bitter.

Frist rating(50 cl bottle at Haket, Gothenburg) Clear light brown color, white head. Strong scent of malt and hops, sweet and bitter. High thick palate. High bitterness, sharp and domoianting. A bit fruity taste before you swallow it, but then too dominating bitterness takes over. Rather dry and high in minerals. Some spices.6/3/4/3/10=2.6Second rating.(500 ml can from a friend from London)Clear copper to brown color, tan head. Fruity buttery scent, applesauce. Mainly bitter but also fruity taste.
