roasted malty and wood aroma, dark caramel, faint vanilla, dark chocolate. pretty tight stuff, good dark chocolate malt cake aroma.
Flavor is dark chocolate, wood, sweet licorice, roasted malts, dark caramel. A bit too pastry for my taste - tastes more of the stuff added and the barrelling than of roasted malts. better than many others though, just not top of the line.

330 ml can, bb 31 Dec. 2022. Black, oily body, with a tiny, tan head. Aroma of chocolate sauce, dark fruits, soy sauce, bourbon, some tobacco. Tastes quite similar, while with more coffee, liquorice and molasses. Oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carboantion. Finishes warm, a bit boozy, medium sweet, moderate roasty, with bourbon, chocolate, dark fruits, liquorice, tobacco, soy sauce. The ABV is very well hidden, a bit boozy, but not too heavy. Rich and oily, with the bourbon barrel well integrated. Not among my favorite BA stouts by Buxton, but a lovely sipper. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16

Appearance is oily bitch black, a small bubbly beige head which goes quickly. Aroma- bourbon, dark chocolate, burnt toffee, treacle, dark rum, whiskey, molasses, hint of smoke, leather, coffee, scorched dark malt. Taste- smoky notes, peat whisky, dark chocolate, espresso, dark malt, treacle toffee, vanilla, pipe smoke, boozy dark fruit, liqueur chocolates, boozy heat in the nose, caramel, oaky barrel. Sweet and chewy finish with smoke and heat. Intense, epic stuff.

Pours black, medium small tanned head relatively stable (concidering its abv!) Scent is pure, roasty (chocolate) and bourbon, woody. Oats. Taste is full, robust roastyness but smoothed down by lots of vanilla from the bourbon. It peeks behind the corner of being overly boozy, but is just not overdoing it. Lots of woody flavors, but the smoothness here makes it stand out. Demands some silence, thought and time - yet is so overly drinkable for it's ABV. A medium thick body (nothing too crazy, in this league) helps with that. Some sweetness, but not overdoing it. A surprisingly balanced barrel bomb. Barrel masters truly is a great subtitle for this work of art.

Black, little bit of light brown foam. Smells oldschool roasty, licorice, dark chocolate. Body is firm, smooth, tiny bit boozy. Taste is gorgeous, big imperial stout like they way they used to make them. Roast, licorice, dark fruit, some barrel. Great.

Poured from 330mL can (bb 31 December 2022 - a bit blurry to read; from Phill). Black with small tan head. Very aromatic - can smell it right as the can is open. Really nice barrel and dark fruits on the nose. Chocolate, barrel, oak, earthy, dark fruits, some nice flavour and decent complexity, alcohol is hidden for 16.7%, actually slightly thinner than expected in taste for such a big beer, but the flavour is still nice.
