South Germany inspired light and refreshing blonde Helles beer.

330ml can from Beer52. Mostly clear light gold with small white head, modest retention. Aroma is doughy with some herbal and light citrus. Taste is quite bready with sweet cereal malt notes with some herb and grassiness in the finish. Medium bodied, mid to fine carbonation. Somewhat more bitter than your average helles.

Tap at Basque Izakaia in San Sebastian. Clear pale golden with a creamy-frothy head. Crisp and clean enough lager with a light carbonation. Standard aroma and a fair taste.

200ml draught, 4.8 % abv, at Tromsø Mikrobryggeri. Basqueland Brewing TTO. Upper part lacing in the glass, filmy layer, clear late straw coloured body. Moderate grass-grainy aromas. Fine balanced taste of grassy hops, craft malts, and a distant citric bite. Dry finish with subdued bitterness. Clean on the swallow. Well made version of the style.
