This award-winning beer is the embodiment of the validity and integrity of the Holy Brewing Method; our 9% abv Mother Brew is simply stunning, as those in the know will testify. A beer for sipping, possibly from a wine glass - and certainly one for sharing. Appearance: Honey-hued polished gold and ephemeral white foam create an intriguing spectacle. Aroma: A perfumed sweetness and oaked spirit nose indicate something special to be discovered in this handsome liquid. Flavour: Sweet toffee and honeyed twists, turns and loops combine with a concentrated wine-like fruitiness, feisty light rum, swirls of malt, and decidedly ripe dessert apple richness. Mouthfeel and finish: Powerfully spirited and a juicy spice palate with astonishing depth.

Note: American version has an all black label with white font.

Can from my local post office/convenience store. Pours attractive bright golden amber with a lasting creamy off white head. Aroma of malt, fruity/apple, light alcohol, and sweet caramel. Medium to heavy sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, very sticky texture, soft carbonation. Finish is sweet and sticky. Have to say it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought but hope to never be sitting on a park bench having 5 or 6.

Can (shared by fatphil, thanks). Street tick, so appearance is a can. Aroma is cardboard, grains, nastyness, alcohol, malt. Flavor follows the nose. Overall: nasty stuff.

Can, from the local offie. Clear, gingery gold. Film of white. Leggy in the glass. Aroma is thick, sweet malts. Some grassy hop. Not a great deal else. Taste is sticky sweet. Chewy, sticky mouthfeel. A bit heavy going. Sweet finish. Of a 500ml can I managed about 350, and it’s a rarity when I pour beer away...

500ml can from Ozmens, London Road, Sheffield - Clear golden, white head. Nose is malty, barley sugar. Taste is sweet beyond sweetness with a chemical booziness at the end. Tramp juice.

Can from local offie. Drunk at home. Ok, maybe I am too much of a high rater, but... this isn’t bad. In its own way, it’s actually quite tasty. Clear gold with more than its fair share of forced carbonation. Nice aroma! Pear, butterscotch and honey. The taste isn’t great but neither is it offensive. Sweeter than most lagers, with a thicker body as well. I hate to say that I would actually drink this again.

500 ml can. Clear golden body with a small white head. Aroma is malty with boozy alcohol. Flavor is sweet, slightly metallic, malt, low bitterness and raw, boozy alcohol. Medium body and boozy aftertaste. Not very nice at all by any means.

Can on the train to Portsmouth, IOW Jolly Day, thanks to Soapy 24/08/14 - served in a bin bag, a UK tribute to the brown paper bag. Clear light golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is light caramel, straw, bready notes, light butterscotch. Taste comprises much the same, buttery twang, light booze, moderate carbonation and paper notes in a lightly drying close. Pretty shit !

Can in a black plastic bag during the IoW Jolly. It pours clear gold with a thick white head. The nose is bready, sweet, sugary, corn, and mild garbage action. The taste is sweet, doughy, cornbread, syrupy, sugar cane and only mild alcohol with a short, sweetish finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth and hides abv well, yet gets you buzzed quickly. Weirdly enough I sort of like this.
