50cl bottle (#30654) from Morrisons. Bright amber gold in colour with a thick cream head; the aroma has caramel and biscuit and some oak; there’s more oak to the flavour with some orange fruit, and the texture is smooth and creamy; then more dry vanilla oak to finish. Mellow and a pleasant slow drink.

500ml bottle from Morrisons. Bottle no. 31225. Classic clear amber with a thin lasting off white head. Spicy hop and orange citrus fruit aroma. Some toffee too. Quite drinkable in the mouth, yes it suffers like all pasteurised beers with some boiled sweet flavour especially on the swallow, but the rich sweet orange fruit flavour comes through. Any brandy? No, not really. Spicy, peppery hop on finish causes some harsh burn on the tongue. The harsh carbonation rather ruins it. And the pasteurisation doesn’t really work. I can see that this would be pretty good in cask. The solid fruit in the mouth and lack of booziness makes it a real sipper of a pint. If only it wasn’t pasteurised. The fruit though is excellent and the hop, though harsh rather than flavourful does keep your mouth interested. Maybe just borders into an IPA. The fruit made me feel warm towards the beer. Or was that the alcohol. No definitely the orange and tangerine fruit that runs through it is in fact very good.
