The first beer that we ever brewed and the only recipe that has stayed the same since day one. A rich, silky, robust porter which delivers everything you'd expect from the style. With Fuggles hops.

[ 33cl can from Beer52.] A glossy dark chocolate coloured pour, almost black, with a fast fading coffee coloured head; aroma of drinking chocolate; smooth and silky in the mouth with a luxurious chocolate taste; and a touch of chocolate liquor in the finish. Excellent.

Creamy light brown head stayed on a black still body. Coal, bitter, cigarette & smokey aroma. Medium bodied, sharp on the front, creamy over the tongue & clean on the back. Bitter tangy berry, slightly smokey, malt, faint coffee, pith & sugar tastes.

A colleague who subscribes to Beer 52 kindly gave me this as he knew I was ticking off Surrey beers - to be fair he benefitted from a Pohjala beer in return. Sweet chocolate aroma. Dark and glossy. Foamy beige head soon shrinks away. Medium bitter coffee with a hoppy edge. Underlying creamy sweetness. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Dry slightly astringent finish. Nice porter with a bitter bite.

330ml can: BB 12th Jul 2020. Poured into an Augustijn chalice at home on 5th Oct 2019. Lovely dark body, beige topping. Chocolate all the way here, dark, rich chocolate with a slight coffee grains bitterness for balance. Smooth and easy to drink, very pleasant all round.

Medium sweet flavour with toasted sugars, faint rubber, more milk chocolate, mild burnt wood, earth and baking cocoa. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Nicely balanced on the finish, with some gooey chocolate, slight roast, light scorched earth, bittersweet cocoa. Solid.

Cask at the lyric for the tap takeover. As ’Dark Wave Porter’. Aroma is nice dark coffee, caramel, dusty, vanilla creme. Dark caramel reddy brown with a lasting creamy tan head. Flavour is ashy roast, caramel, woody, semi sweet. Palate is a little thin, semi sweet, low carbonation. Ok. Lingering woody roast.
