The beer is made from a blend of East Anglian malted barley, Boadicea and First Gold hops and high grade malted wheat which is then filtered to allow the aromas and flavours within the beer to remain. Spindrift is top-fermented and it should be served chilled with a thick, continental-style head. (Contains barley & wheat).

330ml bottle. Pours orange gold with no head. Aroma is wheaty, coriander and some slight hints at tropical fruit. Taste has some zesty lemon to start and lots of wheat. Refreshing.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Nose is caramel malts, hint of vanilla, a bit skunked. Flavour is caramel malts, little metallic, bit of biscuit and grass. Slightly bitter finish.

Bottle 330ml. blue glass @ home.Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, wet hay - grass - straw, moderate hoppy, citrus, wet grass - hay - straw. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110723]

On tap somewhere! Made with Boadicea hops. Sweetish beer, a little wheat beer like. Decent palate with a sublte apricot flavour. Alright.

[330ml bottle from Adnams Cellar & Kitchen shop, Holt, Norfolk] Rather natty blue bottle. Pours amber-gold, small white head, moderate but prickly fizz. Smells like the better class of macro lager, and at first tastes of it too, with a slightly watery mouthfeel. Soon a rich malty lemon flavour comes through, yet it still manages to finish crisp, clean and dry. Probably a great transition beer for lager drinkers, as it definitely has both lager and ale characteristics. Nevertheless, it’s decent enough to hold the interest of the more serious drinker if they’re looking for a light refreshing summer drink. Not one of Adnams better offerings, but still decent - the superb Adnams malt wins me over as ever!

Draft @ The Bridge House, Bermondsey SE1. Pours a clear golden color with a creamy white head. Has a fruity malty fruity caramel aroma. Sweetish malty fruity caramel flavor with some hoppy hints. Has a sweetish malty fruity caramel finish.

On tap at Bridge House, London. Pale copper with lasting beige head. This is, well,....terrible. It is just all over the place. Big hop over an artificial malt base. Peach/yeast aroma. Frankly it just doesn’t make any sense. Hop is just too extreme and sherberty for the body of the beer. Adnams yeasty apple aroma, but the rest is terrible. Mind you according to Jonathan Adnams, it wasn’t made for me anyway. As he says in The Publican, “But this beer is for people who have made the decision not to drink cask beer. We are seeing an increasing area of the on-trade where retailers have decided that cask is a non-existent proposition." Oh dear, dear, dear me........ It’s a sad day.
