Smaakbeschrijving
Jopen NON IPA is het eerste alcoholarme bier van Jopen. Door het gebruik van een speciale gistsoort worden er tijdens het brouwproces nauwelijks suikers omgezet in alcohol. Daarnaast hebben we veel hop toegevoegd waardoor deze IPA smaakvol en fruitig is geworden. En dat is natuurlijk wat je wilt met een IPA. Om het bier een echt Haarlems tintje mee te geven hebben we drie verschillende granen gebruikt. In de middeleeuwen moest elk Haarlems bier gebrouwen worden met gerst, tarwe en haver. Het resultaat: een fruitig, moutig en licht bitter bier.
Naam
De naam verwijst naar non-alcoholic en naar de thuisbasis van Jopenbier: de Jopenkerk Haarlem.
Alcoholvrij of alcoholarm?
Jopen NON IPA is niet alcoholvrij, maar alcoholarm. Alcoholvrij bier mag maximaal 0,1% alcohol bevatten. Bieren tussen de 0,2% en 1,2% alcohol worden in Nederland alcoholarm genoemd.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', bottled in October 2018. Clear, golden amber with a medium large, frothy, stable, white head. Sweetish, fruity, slightly herbal-resiny aroma of mango, pine and a touch of wort. Gently sweet, slightly bitter, fruity, gently herbal-resiny taste of mango, grains, pine and some wort, followed by a short, slightly bitter, moderately dry finish. Medium body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Nice!

Bottle. Color: Slightly hazy golden, white head. Aroma: Wort, hop. Taste: Wort, notes of hop, strong chemical bit burnt notes. Plastic flavours indeed. Horrible. Far worse than the NA IPA from VandeStreek. Never buying again...

Fles vd lokale Appie. Helder goud van kleur, prima schuimkraag. Maar dan. Vloeibaar verbrand plastic. Gadverdamme! Ik heb het al eerder meegemaakt bij een NA IPA, dus het zal wel iets in het productieproces zijn of de combi met de soort hop. Maar ik heb hier een afschuwelijke afkeer van. Kokhalzend ranzig

Bottle at home. Almost clear golden with fluffy almost white head. Light soap, orange, lots of grains with barley, oats, wheat which doesn’t really give it a bready aroma but more of these fancy mixed breakfast cereals. Soft plastic and milky, CO2 and funky herbs. Light sweet and almost medium bitter. Light bodied with sparkly carbonation. Not that bad, like that’s not so sweat, but also not that much nice IPA hops.

33cl Bottle from AH. Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma is sweet, light malty, some orange, but also something chemical, plastic-like, rubber. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, light floral, orange, light hoppy, chemical, bitter finish. Light bodied. Had high hopes, but the chemical flavour is off-putting.
