A soft and sweet malt nose. The taste is honey oak and vanilla. There is almost no hop presence and the malt is also sweet, adding to the one-sidedness of the taste profile. A touch insipid for my taste in beer.

For whatever reason, I had never had this, thinking that all the old supermarket bottles must have over-halogen lit and hence skunked. So i picked up a fresh-y one at whole foods. Poured as it looks in the bottle (duh), taste is like butter toffee cookies after english tea. Really. And that’s a good thing.

Bottle. It has a copper-amber color with a decent head that disappears quickly. Aroma was toffee, slighty caramel corn. Would have been higher except for the skunk smell. Flavor is slightly buttery toffee, with a stronger then normal taste of alcohol.

Bottle shared at home. Pours copper with thick head. Nose is faint smoke, some booze and grains. Taste the follows the aroma, closing with sweetish, smokey finish. Light bodied with average carbo. Not bad, but a bit mediocre.

tonight was probably the 3rd time i have this beer, and I must say it gets better with age. This bottle was much more mellow than the previous ones. the oak really comes through! lots of english hops, and a very subtle vanilla amongst the massive amounts of oak. but the booziness i got in the young bottles is very much gone, decent beer, but near the end of the glass its hard to put down.

Bottiglia.

Bottle from a local Lidl. Aroma is malt, lots of vanilla, subtle oak, caramel toffee, butterscotch, and notes of whiskey. Flavour is sweet with hardly any bitterness. Body is medium. I did not expect to like this, but it's not bad.
