The aroma is typically English. Plenty of typically British hops, a few notes of caramel, a good amount of malt, grassy notes, dried fruit, a touch of oak, and vanilla. Dark brown in colour, with a generous head, and a dark ecru. The flavour is malty, with burnt bread crust, toffee, moderately hoppy, and dried fruit, but with a hint of plum. The bitterness is distinct, slightly grassy, earthy, and typically British. Pleasant, the quintessence of a British strong ale.

Bottle 0,5 ltr: Cleat dark amber colored brew with an refined dry bitter taste with some sweetness. Hints of caramel, slightly something of wood, lightly roasted malt and some fruitiness.

Аромат классиечский для Англии. Весьма много континентального хмеля, немного намеков на карамель, много солода обычного, оттенки травянистости. Цвет темно коричневый, пенки почти нету, мыльная и быстрая. Вкус солодовый, умеренно хмелевой. Немного травянистости снова при глотке. Почти нету карамели, но немного сливы. На этом все, слишком невзрачно и горько местами.

Bottle from Co-op Union Street, Aberdeen. It pours clear mahogany brown with a handsome beige head. The aroma is varnished wood, bitter - sweet, earth, resin, malt loaf, brown bread and toasted nut. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, woody, nutty, leather, resin, tannin, brown bread, earth, dull yoffee, malt loaf and a touch of alcohol with a drying, woody finale. Medium body and average carbonation. Kinda reminds me of Innes & Gunn. Absolutely fine. Decent boost level.
