This score is inflated by the quality of dryness that I like in a malty beer so much. Beer is otherwise ok. Bit over carbonated and thin. Decent nose and color. Had it on draft many times at Bodega downtown La Crosse, bottles too.

12 ounce bottle, Sand Creek label, from Woodman's Oak Creek. Dark brown, thin fizzy tan head fair retention. Aroma of roast, clay, green coffee. Taste is chocolate, roast, sunflower seeds. Thin. Very weak porter. Meh.

Bottle: Pours dark, clear, ruby-brown with a creamy beige head. Cocoa, dark grain aroma. Taste is a light chocolate/cocoa malt, caramel, barley... A really nice, if a bit light, little porter. "...if we built this large wooden badger........"

Bottle. Chocolate barley malt and straw aroma. Amber with moderate head. Mildly sweet chocolate, roasted barley malt, and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Decent body. Pretty good - "Badger, your book on "How to Pick Up Trashy Women" is here".

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a dark amber with a ruby hue and almost no head. Aroma of a little chocolate and a little Marciano cherry. Taste is light sweet. A little chocolate with citrus and banana. Light bodied with a thin texture. Soft carbonation and a longer than expected finish. Overall, ok. Not really diggin it though.

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 01/06/2012. This beer pours a dark mahogany-orange color with a medium thin off-white head that recedes quickly to a film. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate along with a bit of caramel. Light to medium body with a roasty malt character and notes of caramel and touches of woody hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Barely average overall.

35cl bottle via a friend who went to the US. Reasonable off white creamy head. Clear amber pour. A bit watery for my tastes but nice enough

12oz bottle. Significantly lighter than a typical Porter, brown-red with a solid off-white head. Sugary amber-caramel aroma. Tastes in some ways like an Amber with more chocolate malt thrown in. Smooth and creamy, medium bodied. Overall, just doesn’t hit the Porter target very well, and is a touch underwhelming.
