It was a long, long time ago, that the Hofbräu Maibock was brewed for the first time: In 1614 the bottom-fermented beer specialty filled beer steins for the first time. Even today, Munich's oldest bock beer is still as popular as ever with its full-bodied, malty flavor. The relatively high alcohol content of 7.2% Vol. doesn’t do things half-way – and satisfies, especially honest beer connoisseurs.

On tap at Hofbräu Zum Lindwurm Klagenfurt. Clear amber coloured, medium sized off-white head, caramel and light malty nose. Sweet malty, caramel, dried fruits and touch of alcohol with dry sweet finish. Bit too sweet.

It is a classical beer from the Bavarian tradition. The body is red and copper, thin foam. The taste is smocked, sweet and malty, pleasant, 03.05.2016

Bottle. Strong smell, a little too strong. Smells and tastes a little too sweet though still very drinkable and goes down smooth.

0.33l bottle at Base Camp. Shiny coppery body, off-white head. Sweetish dry grainy malty aroma, vague dried fruit. Dry taste, dried fruit, some maltiness, herbal by the finish, quite pleasant!

330ml bottle. Opalescent, redd-ish, dark amber colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Mellow malty and slightly fruity hoppy as well as yeasty fruity aroma, hints of caramel, dark honey, strawberry. Taste is sweet, mellow and slightly toasty malty, mildly bitter hoppy, minimally yeasty fruity, hints of caramel, some dark honey, a touch of srawberry, nutty overtones.
Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, smooth and soft palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation.
Very nice colour, a tad disharmonious, rather sweet - OK.
