For this variant we aged Bourbon County Stout in rye whiskey barrels, then added raspberry and blackberry juice and puree from Michigan and Washington. The process resulted in complex jammy fruit notes that are prominent but well integrated with the caramel and chocolate flavors of the beer and spicy rye character from the barrels.

500mL bottled Aug 23, 2018, drunk Sep 19, 2021.
Dark, mahogany brown, undetermined clarity with a tan head fading quickly to a ring.
Lots of poignant fruit in the nose. Big blackberry mixing with dark chocolate and light honey. Seems very fruity for its age, which is impressive and yet, it smells significantly lighter than most BCBS, for better or for worse. Not really boozey.
In the mouth it's soft and malty but yet with strong drying acids from both malt and fruit addition. Tart blackberry and tons of pepper definitely do not overwhelm the sweet malt but at this point it's very well attenuated and it doesnt really live up to the standard of recent BCBS. Just doesnt have that thick, rich, comforting texture. Still, it's flavorful, seemingly light on the palate and dry, so it goes down easily.

Bottle (2018) pour from bottle share--thanks Chris! Appearance is purple-black with light sparkle, nice viscosity, thin ring of off-white head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong blackberries and raspberries with milder rye whiskey and malts. Taste is initial strong raspberry and blackberry with roasted malt followed by harsh alcohol, tart fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, starts with promise of berries but runs into a harsh alcohol flavor/mouthfeel. Hard to get past it for me. Easily my least favorite Bourbon County variant.

15/VIII/20 - 50cl bottle @ Belgian Beer Geek Gathering Summer 2020, BB: n/a, 2018 vintage (2020-785) Thanks to ElManana+1 for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: oh my, lots of raspberry flavoured lambic, soft roast, acidic impression, bit funky. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, nice acidity keeping the balance, very fruity, lots of raspberry jam, alcohol noticeable, very nice! Aftertaste: fruity, lots of berries, alcohol, lovely stuff, more jam, soft bitterness, very good, love it!

Maybe age 2 more years, the tannic Berry notes are still overpowering for me, and did not meld well with the base. Opposing flavors hard.

Teku showing dark brown and sparse white foam. The nose shows intensely sweet notes of blackberries and blueberries. The palate is lightly carbonated and full bodied. Very sweet with an intense espresso background and hints of tart blackberry.

On tap at Goose Island in Shoreditch. Pours jet black with a dirty tan head that quickly retreats to clinging onto the glass. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, coconut, blackberry, molasses and boozy bourbon. Once it warms up the jammy fruits comes through more. Taste is chocolate, cocoa, coconut, marshmallow, tart blackberry tempers the sweetness. Cracking balance of flavour. This is some seriously good shizzle.

0,5l bottle at my place in Cartagena, bought at Brooklyn Farmers Market. Bottled 24. 08. 2019. black color, small coffee colored head. smells of blackberries, bit acidic, raspberries, wood, earthy, some more berry notes, smells was very berry forward at first, but after a while more malt notes come through. nice smell. full body, light carbonation. tastes of raspberries, very light blackberries, wood, earthy notes, bitter chocolate, toffee, raspberry chocolate, bit fudgy, some whisky and brandy notes after it warms up. finishes lightly boozy with notes of whisky, bery notes and some bitter chocolate. Good stuff, I acutally like this a bit better when cold, easier to drink that way, flavours are a bit all over the place once warm. Recommended.
