650ml bottle with a hefty 11%. This beer doesn’t hide it, and it doesn’t have to. Strong in every sense with a good balance and nice aromas of resin and earth. I like.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a snifter. Clear amber with medium white head. Aroma is nice herbal hops, medium body, light carbonation, and good small-bubble lacing. Taste is herbal hops and bitter finish.

22 ounce bottle. Amber orange color. Small creamy white head. Intense sweet malt nose with pine hop notes. Flavor mirrors the nose. A big sweet maltiness is balanced by the intense pine and grapefruit hop bitterness. This IIPA beer is big and bold, very much in the vein of the great West Coast IIPA’s. One of Southern Tier’s finest efforts.

Growler from Albertsons. First sip, and I’m already impressed. Orange amber body with thick fluffy head. Piney hop aroma, slightly astringent. Taste is pure hop, but exceedingly smooth. Alcohol heat kicks in on the way down the pipe. Beautiful all the way around, delicious, excellent brew.

Bottle from Southern Tier Super Pack. Pour is a murky copper color. Not much of a head again, and what there is disappears instantly. Aroma and Taste are earthy, resinous hops and caramel sweet malt. The hops do manage to balance out this monster (a bit). Thicker bodied with minimal carbonation. A bit boozy and slightly syrupy on warming. Decent

22oz bottle from a Wegman’s in Buffalo, NY. A treat saved for the last night of this trip, as I’ve been impressed by this brewery.

An attractive golden amber pour with a loose off-white head; the aroma is soft and enticing with some citrus, woody notes, apricots, and soused raisins all coming through; equally it’s luxurious in the mouth, soft and oily, and very vinuous, you can taste the alcohol, but it doesn’t burn; the finish is syrupy, but also has fresh lemon so that it’s not cloying. Definitely a beer to savour and sip slowly all evening, and as it happens an excellent accompaniment to a plate of strong cheeses and dried fruit.
