Dark, chestnut beer whose bitter chocolate and roast malt taste from the large dose of roast barley added is softened by the addition of rich Ruby Port, combining the hoppy pepperiness from Phoenix and Bobek with vinous alcoholic fruitiness.

Bottle from NT Knighthayes Court shop. Color: Dark ruby, mocha head. Aroma: Roasted malt, some coffee and chocolate. Taste: Blend of roasted malt, notes of dark chocolate and coffee and hints of Ruby Port and floral, spicy hop. Smooth mouthfeel. Just over medium body, just below average carbonation. Dry finish. Moderate sweet, over moderate bitterness. Nice one.

Festival pint at Golden Bee pub in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England. Cask pour. It pours a pitch black color with a small beige head and excellent retention. Excellent lacing. Very mild dark caramel and light coffee aroma. The flavor is very mild. No caramel notes. Super smooth and clean. This is a mild stout overall. The flavor's not super special, but the cask conditioning is super smooth, clean, and creamy. It's a medium-heavy body and low carbonation. Almost no bitterness. Great texture.

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours almost black with a small cream head. Thereโs dark fruits and roasted malts in the aroma. In the mouth it is slightly sweet and has a fruity texture plus a little smokiness. Main flavour is lashings of liquorice with some toffee and alcoholic strength. Finish is dry and smokey. Decent, but I didnโt enloy it as much as I expected. Maybe a rerate is required ?

500ml bottle from Sidmouth Unwrapped. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived, frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt, molasses. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, with a smooth, rich, liqourice, molasses, light coffee, molasses palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical. Picked up for my by my in-laws when they were down in Devon. Also got me a branded pint glass. One of the first stouts that I really got.

Bottle. Birthday gift off Totnes. Deep, reddy brown. Fine, off white head. Nose has port dregs. Coffee. Some old wood. Touch of fruit. Taste is a little bitter and earthy, with some fruit sweetness. Light to medium body. Fine carbonation. Bitterness to finish. Ok for an out of date hote browne.
