Bottle. Chocolate syrup, malt, and herbal hay aroma. Dark brown with large light tan head. Sweet chocolate, roasted barley, and mildly bitter hay and ash flavor. Good body. Kind of dark for a Vienna - seems more like a dunkel in both appearance and flavor.

Bottle: Pours dark, ruby-lit brown/black with a frothy beige head. Dark, roasty caramel, chocolate aroma. Flavour is roasted and rich....slightly black-pepper accented caramel malt..chocolate, cola.....maybe even a slight whiff of smokiness. Light, but not watered-down... Curious about the low ratings on this....I thought it was a bit dark for the style, but pretty tasty.

Sample at Primo’s Deli. The beer is a dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes gradually. Strings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt and slight hops. Light body with flavors of grainy malt, chocolate and mild hops. The finish is slightly roasty with a short chocolate malt aftertaste. Just average overall.

The Beer Store, Toronoto 500ml can ($3ish): Pours a dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is lightly roasted malt and some lager smell. Taste is similar. It is very mild. Nothing offensive about it whatsoever, but there is also nothing really outstanding. Would make a good session ale.

Nice big head when poured aggressively, brown-burgundy body. Soft malt and barley aroma. Flavour is sweet sugar with a malt backup and an awkward mouthfeel. Sort of like a strong dunkel that’s been cut with water to make the ABV less, it’s just not working.

listed as brick waterloo dark and waterloo dark. smells fresh, metallic. dark, looks nice. mild tart on a dark american lager. sizzlingy good; just the right amount of bitterness. I like most mild schwartzbeers and dark lagers.

It’s high in carbonation and not bitter like a schwarzbier should be, but there’s not much of anything else going on in this one. My can says it’s from the Waterloo Brewing Co. May have changed names... tall can poured into a glass
