It’s high in carbonation and not bitter like a schwarzbier should be, but there’s not much of anything else going on in this one. My can says it’s from the Waterloo Brewing Co. May have changed names... tall can poured into a glass

Originally rated September 2006. This cheap schwarzbier pours a dark red-brown colour with a good creamy tanned head that has decent retention and nice thick lacing. The carbonation is quite active with tiny bubbles. The scent is mild with malt at first, then turns into a mix of roasted malt and not-so-good sourness. Smooth mouthfeel with a slight crispiness to it. The taste is mild too, with some little molasse very well-hidden and some corn. Overall, it is one of the better brews from Brick Brewing, but for the style, I much prefer the Kostritzer and the Escousse. This is a dark lager to be enjoyed from the bottle.

Can. Reddish dark brown color with small foamy tan head, no specific aroma, slightly sour, stale metallic taste, mild carbonation, abrupt finish. Disappointingly tasteless beer. Though the beer is listed under Brick Brewing Co and found under the website, Waterloo Brewing Co is put on the can as the producer.

Deep dark coloured body with a mild ruby tint and a very thin tan head. Aroma of mild malt, cardboard, yeast and a little bit of sugar. Light-bodied; Strong cardboard and sugar flavours with not much else but funky malt and water. Aftertaste shows just about nothing, perhaps cardboard and some sugars. Overall, a pretty bad beer - I don’t see much premium about this, but it was nice to at least try it. I sampled this 473 mL can purchased from the LCBO (Summerhill) in Toronto, Ontario on 11-October-2009 sampled from home in Washington on 06-November-2009.

16oz can bought in Toronto. Dark brown, slight red to orange tint. Tall beige head. Somewhat sweet dark malt aroma, lots of caramel, some chocolate, rather simple, but straightforward and not bad. Between a dunkel and Schwarz. Simple dark malt flavor, caramel, chocolate, sweet, but slightly bready and biscuity. Not all that exciting but pleasant to drink. Rather light in body. Nice enough but not very interesting.

Bottle: Poured a clear above average brown color lager with a large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of lightly sweet caramel malt. Taste is also dominated by lightly sweet malt note. Definitely too thin for the style with some average carbonation. Refreshing but a bit thin and lacing some flavour.

Yet another 473 mL can from matt7215. You rock! A little bit of a gusher. Ruby brown pour with a a large, frothy, quickly receding head. But, to catch the gushing I had to pour pretty vigorously. Nice lacing. Head has a nice... SOUND... snap, crackle, pop! Slightly bitter roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt taste with hints of coffee and soap. A little watery.
