»The Seasonal« Strong in taste, with a pleasant spring-fresh flavor.
“Ready for May?” In spring, the Einbecker brew-masters brew a particular special beer, the Einbecker Mai-Ur-Bock. This pleasantly-bitter refreshment is only available in the spring – as long as supplies last.

330 ml bottles, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget). I drank the first bottle at cellar temperature, the second one at fridge temp. Extremely powerful mouthfeel in both cases, you’d think the beer was much stronger than its 6.5% ABV (in a blind test I’d probably say 10-11%). This means that the alcohol dominates, but the malts and hops are evident too. Colour is deep golden / amber, large white head. Moderate aroma of spices, caramel, molasses and hops, some oak and leather too. Moderately sweet with a dry and bitter hoppy finish. I preferred the Einbecker Ur-Bock Dunkel to this one.

(Bottle 33 cl) Bronze-golden with a nice but rather short-lived head. Full-bodied, slightly sweet - and then you’re hit by a sharp bitterness. The same brewery’s dark bock was always challenging you’re buds, but this is disappointingly one-dimensional. Still a nice beer, but far from excellent. 061099

Bottle: Light amber coloured, long lasting rocky head, beautiful big nose: honey and floral, fresh hops, small hints of alcohol in the back; taste dominated by aromatic hops, shy maltiness in the beginning, long lasting herbal, floral aromatic hoppiness in the aftertaste; very well balanced - a really good one, compared to many of bubble-gum-like Maibocks !

A clear caramel colored beer with a huge off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of spices, caramel, and hops. The flavor is very sweet and caramelic with notes of alcohol as well as hops in the end. The mouthfeel is sticky.

Clear straw-amber body, medium off-white head. Cerealy aroma with hints of caramel and a grassy hops kick (a touch of skunk too). Body has some burnt sugars, caramel, and a grassy, zesty hops finish. Leaving this on the tongue leaves a metallic twang. A couple steps above macro-lagers but still along those lines.

Golden color. Very nice malty/honey aroma. Smooth, low carbonation, malty, with a good and strong ending bitterness; also with a brown sugar and caramel touch.

Copper/orange coloured body with a minimal whiteish head. Aroma of some fruit, but otherwise powerful bittering scents. Medium-bodied; Strong flavour of fruit and malt lasts in the mouth for a long while. Aftertaste shows some bitterness and a slight sweetness. Overall, not a great beer, but that is to be expected from this brewery. I shared this bottle with Phil (haddon90) at the Flying Saucer in Nashville, Tennessee...thanks Phil!

Bronze-coloured, big bitterness, some coriander-flavour and a warming alcohol-sweetness. Not bad.
