Betty Stogs is a copper-coloured bitter brewed since 1997 using Cornish water; whole-flower Celeia, Northdown and Aurora hops; malted barley and wheat; and Skinner’s unique yeast.

500 ml bottle from 16th St. Pours and orange amber with almost no head. Aromas of cereal and toffee with a bit of hops. Initial malt flavor, followed by cereal, light citrus and hops. Nice enough to have another.

500ml bottle (best before 28 July 2012) poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard on 9th May 2012. Light to mid brown in body colour, clear and clean: on top an off-white crown of foaming bubbles. Good malty nose and taste: molasses and malt biscuits stuck together by a mildly hop presence. Almost as good as the cask version: a fine blend of flavours and very, very drinkable.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is light toasted malt and rather grassy to herbal hops. Pilsner bitter and grassy mixed with a dry toasted malt base. Light herbal into a malty finish.

Bottle from Mike in Truro. Pours amber with a creamy/bubbly off-white head. Aroma of light roast malt with some light type fruit. Flavor is roast malt with some fruity/citrus hop. It is bitter but the malt is strongly present, perhaps slightly dominant in the finish.

Orangey-amber. Orange-spicy hop accent to the aroma. Balanced, with earthy malts, caramel accent, spice...good balance. A little touch of acidity helps the finish.

Bottle at home. Clear amber pour with a small, white head. Toasty malts and lemony hops on the nose. Lightly sweet, has some light bread and tangy plastic. Light in body with fine carbonation. Pretty bland on the finish, some very weak bitterness with a citric quality. Nothing special.

Bottle 500ml. @ home.Clear medium to light amber color with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, moderate to light light heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, leather notes. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
