This beer is golden, with a fine and dense foam. Its rich and fruity aromas offer a good balance between malt and yeast. It is soft on the palate with a sweet bitterness, just persistent.

Medium white head. Clear still coppery body. Fruity toffee aroma with floral notes. Sweetish floral earthy caramelly taste with strawy vanilla fudge notes. Reminiscent of some Lithuanian beers. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish earthy caramelly straw aftertaste with vanilla fudge and toffee notes. Unusual. A little sweet and slack, but still interesting. (0.75l bottle, from wine monopoly, Strømmen.)

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 24C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: predominant mix of slight alcohol and a medium low malt sweetness with notes of a doughy, bready character. The alcohol is slightly peppery. No hop perceived nor fruitiness. APPEARANCE: golden color and clear. medium-large off-ehite head, creamy, with medium-low retention. some lace formation. TASTE: predominant malty sweet flavor with notes of bread and a slight touch of honey-like malt. low bitterness with a semi-dry to dry finish, with a bready character. PALATE: medium-low body with a very faint texture. faint alcohol warmth. no other palate sensations. excessive carbonation. OVERALL: a nice biere the garde, with a predominant bready and alcohol aroma, with a sweet component. the sample was overcarbonated (gusher).

*Old rating, 75cl bottle, best before 20.01.12. Malzig-herbes Bier mit schöner Kräuternote. Leicht säuerlich, Bière de Garde typisch. Schön!

Bottle from notes. Nose is sweet, honey, elderflower touch of lemon. Taste follows with lots of honey and sweetness. In common with the style there is little hops which ultimately limits it’s appeal but a class leader.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Wow. Now this beer is remarkable. Fresh banana esque aroma from the off, with an indulgent soft Belgian yeast and lemon flavour that fills the glass. Wasn’t expecting this from an unfamiliar beer but this is excellent. Now to search out their other offerings.

Bottle at home in London. Pours perfectly clear yellow-gold, effervescent, with a large, frothy white head. Nose holds lots of white bread, dough, some vanilla frosting. Medium to big sweet flavor, lots more simple, doughy-bready pale malts, hints of orange cream soda, white sugar, hay. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Light warmth to finish, some overripe lemon, wet dough. Starts alright but I’m not crazy about the finish.
