Fuller's Bengal Lancer is a traditional India Pale Ale. It is brewed using the finest English malt and Goldings hops to evoke memories of the first versions of this pale amber, distinctively hoppy and superbly refreshing style of beer.

Aroma: It has a somewhat buttery nose, with some clean malts, caramel, and light hops
Appearance: It pours a cloudy caramel-orange color with a small off-white head and sticky lace
Flavor: This one has a malty flavor, but it is slightly off and a little buttery, with a light bitterness
Palate: Medium bodied, with a smooth and clean feel, and a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: A total "Eh..." beer. This one was definitely not a favorite for me. It isn't terrible, but I can't imagine too many situations in which I'd order it again.

Appearance: Clear orange golden color with a creamy white layer head that leaves some lacing.
Aroma: Strong malty, citric hoppy and mild fruity.
Palate: Medium + body. Tad sweet and a nice bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Mild citric hoppy, fruity and a fine solid malty back.
Overall impression: Tasty and fresh ale. I wish they had used some more hopps.

Draught @ In de Wildeman. Nice beer with sweet, honey-like, qualities and also notes of burned malts, herbs and flowery hops.

500 ml as Fullers India Pale Ale 6,3% bottle sampled in 2009. Dark golden body with a nice off-white head. Clear, deep golden body with a nice off-white head. Mild aroma of caramel malt with a hint of grassy hops. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, toast and moderate bitterness. Medium body and moderate aftertaste. Quite average.

Pours a friendly shade of amber. Right about a nice, medium wood stain. Quite clear. Soft cream-colored head. Pretty good retention. Moderate lacing. The aroma has a mix of gentle hops, rich malt and a solid mineral character. The hops have a nice dose of orange with floral and herbal notes. Solid caramel maltiness. The taste has nice hop flavor on top of that rich caramel malt. Pleasant bitterness in the finish. Fairly sweet but the beer pulls it off. Mostly gentle feel, though it doesn’t seem like they really tried to make it seem like a cask. Easy to drink. Pleasant stuff.

Bottle at home in London, aged between one and two years. Probably picked up at Waitrose or something. Pours clear gold with a moderate, frothy white head. Ripe and lightly dry citrus in the nose, orange, suggestions of age to the malts, some bread. Light to medium sweet flavor, simple dry and bready malts, subtle dry caramel, hints of berries and orange. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Simple, lightly dry finish, mellow toasty sugars, some mild leafy bitterness, light orange peel. Actually not many signs of age here. The beer isn’t especially complex, but it’s nice to drink.

Amber golden colour, white diminishing head. Aroma of hops, fuggle, biscuits, malts, quite fruity. Bitter flavour, sweet malty, hops. Malty finish with a lingering hop touch.
Quite a nice classic feel to it.

Total Wine, Fairfax 50cl ($6): Pours a copper colour with a quickly dissipating white head. The aroma is floral with a bit of honey, but i want to stress that the aroma was faint at best. This bottle is still pretty fresh (best before 2014), so I can’t really think of an excuse for why the aroma is so faint. Taste is somewhat bitter, but mostly just light and kind of crisp. There really isn’t much going on with this. ’Tis a disappointment considering that it is made by the reputable brewers at Fuller’s.
