Chang was made with the vision of the top executives to expand the beer market with a Thai taste albeit with international quality, to give the consumers an alternative with the fervent belief in the brewing and production capability of the Thais. With its attractive taste and a price that appealed to consumers at all levels, the response and success of Beer Chang marked a new era and turned a new page for the Thai beer industry. In 1998 Beer Chang was awarded the “Gold Medallion” at the International Beer Competition in Australia in the category of “Lager, Unlimited Degree”. Since then, Beer Chang has become known as “the international Gold Medallion winner beer of Thailand”.

Big white head. Clear yellow body with strong carbonation. Faint mealy papery aroma. Dry-sweetish earthy grassy taste with oily notes. Mid-to-light body. Sharpish mouthfeel. Harshly dryish grassy oily aftertaste with papery alcoholic notes. Not really very nice. (0.33l can, gift from the wife.)

Appearance: Clear golden color with a white head that soon vanish.
Aroma: Mild malty and a bit fruity.
Palate: Medium body. Slightly sweet and some bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Mild fruity on a fine caramel malty background.
Overall impression: Nice fresh lager. Surely dangerous in the heat.
Personal stats: Can from a trade with Visionthing.

(Can, 0.33 l, kindly given me by mto, 20120828) The beer poured pale golden and clear. Its head was medium sized, very fizzy and it disappeared quickly. Aroma had sweetness, metallicness and booze. Palate was light bodied with very high carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, metallicness and light bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, a bit grainy and weakly bitter. A beer that almost completely lacks beer flavour and and aroma. Would have horror tick potential with even higher ABV.

Bottle at the Ship Inn, Kata Beach, Phuket. I find it hard to believe that this beer ever won any awards. It has that slightly bitter, hoppy taste of any average pilsner, but nothing to set it apart from the crowd. I'll drink it on a hot sunny day in Thailand when there is nothing else, but that's where it ends! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

25/VI/2012 - 33cl bottle @ home - BB: n/a, bottled: 9/III/12 (2012-653) Thanks to Thomas and Annelies for the bottle!

Clear very pale light yellow beer, big creamy head with irregular bubbles, pretty stable, little to non adhesive. Aroma: the faintest touch of fresh cut grass, bit of sewerage, other than that: nothing. Pretty amazing to make beer with almost no smell. MF: little sour, lemony in the start, then sweet sugary still, some lemon. Aftertaste: little bitter, some sugar, nothing more. Man this is boring. Drain pour it is!

64cl bottle (and from cans and on tap) in Bangkok. Light golden with small white head. Light sweet malty aroma with hint of cooked vegetables. More body and flavour than classic South-East Asian lager. Higher alcohol content too, but still dangerously drinkable in the heat. Hint of alcohol is detectable in the flavour. Some bitterness in the finish. One of my pale lager favourites from this part of the world. Not a great beer, but quite drinkable pale lager.

330 ml can, served on a sunny but chilly day in Norway Pale yellow colour with aroma hinting at maize (corn). Easy on the palate, with little or no bitterness and short aftertaste.
