From a bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aromas of caramel and milk chocolate. Flavors are dank, bitter roast. Smooth mouthfeel and finish.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Manchester Wine and Liquors. Appearance is dark brown with slight reddish hue; 3-finger width, crackling, fizzy, light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is caramel malts with light anise and spice (allspice?). Taste is sweet caramel malt with mild dark fruit, earthy hops. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with moderately thick texture, average carbonation and dry, crisp, mild malt finish. Overall, some interesting features but not mind blowing.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours black with a large tan head. Aroma is port, toffee, chocolate, booze. Taste is caramel, raisins, toasted malt, sweetness and a bit of alcohol.

Bottle. A- Tobacco, leather, dark fruits, roasty, char. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Metallic, slight iron, strong tobacco, leather, roasty, smoke, char, cocoa. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- The aroma was nice but the flavor was a bit of a metallic and iron taste overloaded with tobacco. Not bad, not great.

Bottle courtesy of Alla. Il gusto al naso ritrova caramello, cioccolato, caffè, vaniglia, liquirizia e sentore floreale. L’intensità olfattiva è elevata e la persistenza olfattiva è apprezzabile. Il cappello di schiuma dalle bollicine fini e carbonazione media ha una buona tenuta ed è persistente. Il colore è scuro impenetrabile. Il corpo è strutturato ma duttile. Il dolce è medio in buon equilibrio con l’amaro medio. L’intensità gustativa è elevata e la persistenza gustativa è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali sono lunghe. Il finale è lungo e complesso. Il retrogusto è intenso. L’aroma in bocca riporta percezioni di caramello, miele, cioccolato, caffè, liquirizia, frutta secca, fiori, torbato e vaniglia.

Bottle from the convenience store a couple of units on from the Record Cafe, Bradford. Very dark with next to no head. Has a light dark-malt sweetness with a smooth tasting texture.

Bottle at home. Cheekily asked a colleague to get me some Latvian beer when they were on a hen weekend and they did. Bitter, anteseptic aroma. Very dark, a slight hint of red. Beige head soon fades away. Heavy bodied, smooth start with a sharp bitter peak, which initially becomes sour in the finish. Some sweetness flitting around. Can feel the alcohol at the top of my throat. However the sweetness then becomes more apparent given more time. A decent beer but not keen on the finish - I’ll go with ’anteseptic’ again.

(Bottle) Pours black with big tan head. Aroma is dark roast malt with hints of fruit and chocolate. Excellent mouthfeel - smooth creamy good carbonation. Taste is nice balance of sweet and bitter. Dark toffee with chocolate, port and burnt notes. A very nice sweet rich beer.
