Can from the beer store. Clear dark copper, with a bug pillows off white head. Some nice biscuity malt, slight caramel, with a decent amount of grassy, spicy hops. So far the aroma is quite promising. The mouth feel is average, and the carb is quite soft. The finish is where this goes a tad off the rails. The finish is very sweet, bordering on cloying. The hops stay, and empire a medium to Hugh bitterness for the style. The malts are just too sweet in the finish, and the alcohol is apparent. This isn’t terrible, arguably one of the best rickards beers I’ve had.

Can: Poured a light amber color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of grainy caramel malt notes with light dry notes. Taste is also dominated by light grainy malt notes with some caramel malt noticeable and a dry finish. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Malt bill is not as clean as I would have expected for the style.

Single cans from the LCBO. Pours a clean amber colour with a frothy white head, good retention and nice creamy lacing. Mild caramel taste with some decent grassy hops, light alcohol and grain to blend things. Light aromas of caramel malts, brown sugars, spices, biscuit and bread yeast. Too bad the Cardigan is replaced by this one, but still good. Wish both were offered at this time next year.
