Keg at Three John’s. It pours deep purple with a thick light purple head. The nose is earthy, musty, dirty, smoked cheese, light plastic and blackcurrant skin. The taste is crisp, tart, good mouth - pucker, lemon peel, Granny Smith apple, some acidity, sour blackcurrant, earth, hint of smoked cheese with a firm, dry finish. Light + body and moderate carbonation. Looks great and has some nice aspects to it. Unfortunately a bit of smoke is kicking about, which I don’t like. Overall not too bad.

33cl bottle. Pours a clear, dark ruby with a tall pink head, lambic kriek-style. Smells like blackberries, gooseberries and blackcurrants, and funnily enough of peated whiskey. Sour and a bit peated, with notes of blackcurrant (I haven’t tasted this since I was a child), pickles and a bit of apple vinegar.

Manchester Beer & Cider Festival 2016. Purple-pink in colour. There’s not a lot of aroma, but it’s very sour in taste.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol, 2/12/2015. Ribena coloured, with a thin, pink head. Blackcurrant flavours dominated throughout, with sweetness avoided and a touch of sourness in the aroma and finish. fine.
