cloudy beige pour. Aroma of grass, chai tea, and some slight lemon. Flavor is ALL chai, i’m really enjoying this. There is the chai flavor with a slight bitter/dry finish. A very interesting beer.

Hazy pale golden coloured body with hints of honey and bronze and a thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head after a few centimetres taller right after the pour. Aroma of tea (shocker), fruits (again...), light grain, honey, yeast and a good note of herbal and grassy qualities - definitely fitting for this style of beer (herb/spice). Medium-bodied; Assertive and defining qualities of tea, grain and yeast up front with a light hit of sorghum and millet (also african) and a light spatter of sugars. Aftertaste shows some herbs, a little yeast, grain and a definite rooibos (fruit/herbal tea) flavour that permeates. Overall - true to the name of the beer and the style, however, this doesn’t translate to a great beer on all fronts. That said, if you like light blonde ales and also love tea in general or rooibos tea, specifically - you’ll like this beer very much. Nice to try and a good reminder of why I’m going down to the motherland [of humanity] in the first place. I sampled this 355 mL bottle purchased from Marche des Saveurs du Quebec in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 20-September-2014 for CA$2,55 sampled at home in Washington just two days before leaving again for the great country of South Africa, this time bringing not only a wife, but two kids.

Bottle: Poured a deep golden color ale with a medium foamy head with light retention. Aroma of Rooibos tea is quite dominant with light unrefined grainy notes also perceptible. Taste is a weird mix between the some unrefined wheat malt notes and some Rooibos tea with a light astringent finish. Body is light with good carbonation. This mix between tea and beer is not the easiest to put together and I must admit that this si not a case were the experiment was successful.

Pours a hazy golden colour with a slight pink hue to it. Decent warm cap with average retention and some foamy lace. Interesting nose with some grain cereals, but with flowers adding light perfume. Medium-light bodied with a little creaminess at first, but finishes dull. The taste is interesting as well. A different type of fruit-like flavour, kind of exotic. Always nice to try something different, but in this case, I am glad I did not have to buy a 6-pack of these.

Bouteille 341ml.

A hazy golden ale with a super thick off white head. A pleasant aroma of ginger, berries, licorice and cinnamon. In mouth, liquid gingerbread, nice sweet and interesting. Medium bodied. On tap at Mondiale 2009.
