Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is grainy malt with straw and soft noble hop. Flavour is light sweetish with a moderate bitterness. Medium body. Good clean Helles, very drinkable.

Bottle from LCB, consumed 5 months in date. Clear gold with small white head. Clean aroma with notes of grain, flora and hint of citrus. Taste has a bready malt with a good and notable hoppy floral and grassy hop (for a Helles), with touch of spice. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Quite sweet but there is a nice bitterness in the finish to balance. I rather enjoyed this one.

One of the countless Helles beers from Bavaria, from a bottle bought in Frankfurt. Thin, snow white, opening head on a clear, pale yellow blonde robe. Aroma of soggy white bread, sweetclover, wet bluestone, oxidized green apple, drying grass, something vaguely sulfuric ('putje'). Sweet pale malty onset, moderate carbonation, vague hints of apple and pear; slick pale malt sweetish core with brioche-like touch, gradually but very mildly bittered by floral hops, yet this pure pale malt sweetishness prevails. Textbook Helles, albeit a bit on the sweet side even for this genre.

On tap @Steb's (Bressanone). Dorata, abbastanza limpida, schiuma bianca media. Al naso note di malto, leggero erbaceo. In bocca è abboccata all'attacco con chiusura appena amara, leggermente stantia. Corpo leggero, carbonazione brillante. Non un granché.

On tap at Ebenezers, Nantwich. Pours a pale yellow with a slightly greenish tinge. There’s a small white head as well. Not much of an aroma – some hints of continental hops and a little fruitiness. In the mouth it fluctuates between slightly sweet and slightly bitter with some continental hops and grains. Later the sweetness becomes more pronounced – though the bitter undertones return in the weakly fruity finish. This is reasonable and recognisably a lager – but rather nondescript otherwise.

Good yellowish head over crystal clear, lightly carbonated golden beer. Grassy nose, gassy too, green herbs & weeds, "herb". Bitterish, again grassy, but the nice bitterish onset is fast retreating into sweetish-neutral pale malts. Light body, mild carbonation, somewhat lasting flavours. Decent, if middle-of-the-road Bavarian lager.
