500ml can from the lcbo. Aroma of metal, very slight cocoa powder and some stale malts. Flavor us wattery and full of stale grass and metallic chocolate malts. Very sub par.

Pours dark brown with good head and really good lacing. Smells faintly of malt, but really nothing going on here. Taste is a little sweet, a little bitter. Tall can.

Canette 473ml. De couleur brune foncée et claire. Nez de grains de malt rôtis avec des notes de caramel brûlé, léger de chocolat noir et de houblon herbeux (herbes fraîches) aux faibles notes florales ainsi que des notes de noix grillées. Mince-moyenne en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture légèrement crémeuse. Nez de grains de malt rôtis dès l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute progressivement un léger goût de chocolat noir avec des notes de caramel ainsi que des traces de pain grillé et de biscuits puis en finale l’on retrouve une très légère amertume de houblon herbeux (gazon mouillé) avec des traces de noix. Post-goût moyen, légèrement amer de rôti / grillé, léger de houblon herbeux avec des traces de chocolat noir et de noix.

Third beer from Headstrong at the LCBO (which no one seems to know who really brews these - says Big Hole Brewing from Utica, NY). Pours a clean caramel-brown colour with a big beige head, and decent retention and lacing. Ruby highlights glow through and carbonation is pretty light with tiny bubbles. Mild aromas of roasted malt, biscuit and hop - nicely balanced. Flat watery mouthfeel that is at least refreshing. Their specific hop is present all the way through (not too powerful, but overpowering the malt) and goes into a smokey burnt aftertaste. I prefer seeing black & tan made from scratch, but this one is refreshing at the most.

A clean brownish ale with a thick dark moka head. Pale grainy malt aroma, a bit mundane, faint roasted notes. In mouth, a brown ale with nutty malt with light chocolate notes....very Saranac-like...boring. 500 ml can from LCBO.

Can: Poured a light color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with light residual sugar. Taste is also dominated by light roasted malt with residual sugar and thin finish. Body is quite thin with good carbonation. Bland with a body way too thin for the style. No need to try this one again.

This ale poured a deep black colour with a nice, creamy looking, tan coloured head. To the nose there are scents of roasty malt, nuts and a little cocoa. First sip was slightly watery but with a good solid flavour of roasty malts, caramel and a ittle coffee. Finish is smokey with a little hopp finish with the smokeyness lingering into the palate
