Canette 473ml. De couleur brune-ambrée foncée et claire. Nez malté de caramel légèrement rôti, léger de noix et de chocolat avec des notes de houblon herbeux (herbes mouillées) ainsi que des traces de café et de fruits (cerises, faibles traces de raisins rouges). Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture aux notes crémeuses. Notes fruitées (cerises, traces de raisins) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un goût malté de caramel sucré et léger-moyen rôti avec des notes de chocolat noir et de pain grillé puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de houblon herbeux (herbes mouillées) avec un léger goût de noix grillées aux notes asséchantes ainsi que de faibles traces de café. Post-goût moyen et aux notes sèches, légèrement amer de rôti et de houblon herbeux avec des traces de chocolat et de fruits (moût de cerises).

Bottle: Poured a deep clear brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of nutty caramel malt is quite intense and enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by this medium sweet nutty caramel taste. Body is average with some spritzy carbonation which doesn’t fir very well. While I don’t need a full hops assault on my brown ale I would appreciate at least some hops inclusion which I can’t say is the case here.

Brown bottle, covered by a plastic film, 500 ml, purchased at the LCBO on March 2 2008, savoured on March 15 2008; eye: ruby, clear, no effervescence, beige head that looks like and behave like Coke’s head; nose: roasted malt, roasted coffee, light hops, light banana; mouth: thin, roasted malt, roasted coffee beans, finale is all in roasted malt and coffee beans, lightly acrid and bitter, medium body, average carbonation, slight astringency; overall: ok FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, recouverte d’un film, 500 ml, achetée à la LCBO le 2 mars 2008, savourée le 15 mars 2008; œil : rubis, claire, pas d’effervescence, mousse beige qui ressemble et se comporte comme la mousse du Coke; nez : malt rôti, torréfaction, léger houblon, léger banane; bouche : mince, malt rôti, torréfaction, finale tout en torréfaction, légèrement âcre et amère, corps moyen, carbonatation moyenne, très légère astringence; en résumé : ok

This ale poured a black colour with a fast diminishing tan head. To the nose there was a slight scent of cocoa but very strong in the roasted malt scent. A little coffee with some earthy notes. First taste was somewhat thin and watery but still had quite a bit of flavour. Tastes of coffee, nuts and burnt malt. The finish was very roasted along with the palate. Mouthfeel was very thin though considering there is that much flavour.

Dark reddish brown ale with a thin big bubbled moka head. Light sweet caramel malt in aroma. In mouth, pleasant nutty malt, with prolonged roasted coffee notes, and burned toast, and light sour notes. Overall, a nut brown to style.

Classic chestnut colour, low visible carbo and lacking head. Aroma is metallic, with nutty influences, earthy, toast and water. Not a good sign when you can smell the water. Metallic body with vague spent coffee grounds and nutshells. No particular hop. In the mid-90's this beer was pretty damn good, and quite hoppy too. Ten years later it's got very little to offer that I can't get in better form somewhere else. Truthfully, I'm a bad boy just for drinking this. I think I need some corporal punishment.

Sparkling brown, tan head. Mild malt nose and flavor, rather bland..........
