Sample at Kurtkeller 019: Choco-tastic 02 on 12/27/2014. This beer is a clear orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and subtle chocolate. Medium-bodied with flavors of citrusy hops, malt and cocoa. The finish is fruity hops up front with a mild chocolate malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle split at the Croydonia Tasting, big thanks originally to our very own American Dad - Endo ! 13/07/13. Lightly hazed orange/golden with a decent sized light beige head. Nose is caramel malt, pine resin, hops, bitter orange, light trace of booze. Taste comprises orange pith, cocoa nibs, light spice, hops, grapefruit, cocoa backnote. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, well balanced hop bitterness in the finish. Decent IPA - the chocolate is well integrated and noticeable without straying to far from the base product. Well done Gigantic for pulling this off so well. Not to be drunk with something from the shit-in-a-tray merchants - common sense!

Super hazy bronze and amber coloured body with a very muddy, ruby-tinted glow and a thick two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of strong earthy, piney and floral hops with a kick of chocolate, alcohol and a bit of fruit sweetness. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong flavour at first of heavy malt, some light chocolate and a good earthy, nutty flavour with some hop notes soon afterwards with a lot of emphasis on earthy, resinous and perfumey hop notes. Aftertaste shows a fairly good balance (if that is even possible) of chocolate and hops with a good sweetness, a decent amount of alcohol and if anything is off - perhaps a bit too thick of body. Overall, a nice and interesting beer that was better than I expected and very cool to try back here on this coast. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 12-April-2013 for US$5.19 sampled at home in Washington on 29-July-2013.

Bottle at Croydonia Tasting, thanks to Colin. It pours clear golden-orange with a small white head. The nose is orange peel, tangerine, light toast, caramel, faint toast and light alcohol. The taste is orange, citrus peel, toast, earth, touch of cocoa, hay, light bitterness, dull roast, pine and some resin with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. The chocolate presents itself more on the taste. Thankfully not over-done. Interesting and pretty well executed.

Bottle shared at the Croydonia July 2013 Tasting - East Croydon. Thanks to Colin for this one. Pours mostly clear, bright gold with a creamy white head. Nose of orange citrus and dusty cocoa, with hints of booze and tangerine. Medium sweet flavor, some rindy bitterness, sticky pine, dry cocoa. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. More citrus and dry, chalky cocoa character to finish. It’s not an especially inspiring beer (although the label is thought provoking) but the chocolate does add a novel edge to the beer.

Bottle. Clear amber body. Fizzy, off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, resin, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter and lightly tart. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Clean and strange.

Bomber thanks to Mike. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A sweet pine nose with some cocoa. A fairly smooth flavor, green peppers, white chocolate, lemon and fruity hops. Pretty interesting. Some coffee in the finish.
