500ml bottle. Gluten Free. Black-brown colour, beige foam head leaving lacing and aroma of roasted malt, smoke, liquorice. Taste is roast malty, ashy, with some dark fruit, chocolate, coffee, liquorice and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, roast bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle direct from the brewer. Pours black, brief small beige head with plenty of fizz, no retention; not great Aroma of roasted malts, smoke, chocolate, dark fruits; very promising Initial taste was almost all burnt malts. I had left the bottle out the fridge for 30 minutes but wasn't enough. Came back to this 30 mins later and taste was roasted malts, smokiness, chocolate and a little blackberry in the finish with a moderate bitterness, the smokiness coming through again at the end; wonderfully complex flavours Body is a little watery and so doesn't compliment such flavours and is frustrating although I appreciate its a 4.3 ABV. Low carbonation is fine. Overall a very flavoursome and complex stout. Great brewing again by Bewdley, consistently good.

31/12/2019. Bottle sample courtesy of minutemat, cheers! Pours beautifully, very dark brown with a nice sized lasting bubbly beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, nut, light smoked meats, dark fruits, toffee, liquorice and ash. Moderate sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Moderate body, slight watery oily texture, average carbonation. Slightly dry finish, with late developing blackcurrant. Enjoyed this.

500ml bottle from Appleyards. Pours a deep hazed dark colour, creamy tan head. Aroma has light woody smoked malts. Taste is surprisingly smokey, woody, ashy, lovely depth of flavours, breezy hop presence, vefy light bitterness, wonderfully balanced,. Excellent stout.
