EBC 11.

Bottle, 75cl. A cute looking beer, almost clear, golden in color and topped by a dense, finger-thick white head. The aroma has some light spicyness, as well as pale malts, toffee and a generic fruityness. Quite sweet, in a pleasant way, on the palate, full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Still, it feels quite dryish, especially towards the finish. Some bitterness, and pale malts, toffee hints and fruityness. A faint spiced touch too. Pleasant bitterness in the end. Not your everyday tripel, but a nice beer anyway. 111229

Brown 75cl bottle: best before 21 May 2013, brewed 21 May 2011 and opened 01 July 2012 and poured into three glasses in one go, to try and keep the sediment at bay. Even so the beer was a misty/cloudy looking brew of old gold: on top of each glass a thin wispy head that wasn’t intending to stay around for long and didn’t. Spices in the nose along with the sweeter citrus fruits (oranges/tangerines etc. etc), add some yeast esters and a tablespoon full of sugar and you’ve got the aroma. The taste is very simular to the smells and there is very little hop presence to give any balance or bitterness. Corinader is mentioned on the label and I tried to find the flavour within the beer but failed. Not a great example of a Belgian Tripel but a different slant on the style maybe and not what I was expecting.

pours a cloudy amberblond beer. Fine laced white and non adhesive head. Smells fruity, flowery and yeasty. A very fresh mouthfeeling. Tastes a little sweet, with hints of caramel and raisins. A little acidic aftertaste wich ends nice and bitter.

Very good, dense, lightly yellow-coloured head, over fully hazy orange-yellow beer, looking as a German Hefeweizen for all the world. Nose is a bit milk-like, and grassy. After some time, hops appear, interwoven with fresh green grainstalks or grass. Slightly caramelly taste, but without real sweetness initially; garden herbs, and again quite grassy. Ends a bit neutral. Backthroat finally some sweetness with alcohol and malty sugars combined, especially after some warming up. Ever so slightly burning MF, medium bodied, grist slickness and yeast notes in the aftertaste. Pleasing brew, impressive for a first commercial try. I would have applauded even more, had the brewer and his friends refrained from trying to beef up the notes for their brew artificially.
