York River Landing draught, 11/24/23. Dark. Probably clear. Dark beige head to ring. Belgian esters and phenols with good acidity and good malt. Raisin, prune, treacle. No booze, but a bit timid. Spice, nutty rye, licorice, vanilla, like Gatherwell, it's very dry and thin from high attenuation and not being an actual imperial stout. Lingering licorice, pepper, bourbon spice. Stop calling Belgian strong ales imperial stouts, please.

Aroma is chocolate, oak, rye whiskey. Taste follows with a lingering spice in the finish. Nice.

500 ml bottle for $18.50! Aroma of slight chocolate, rye whiskey, roast. Mouthfeel and viscosity are good. Roasted backbone with a very slight wood, rye finish. Nice with the exception of the steep price tag.

Bottle share from AirForceHops--thanks Chris! Appearance is dark dark inky brown (almost black) with no discernible sparkle, no head and no lacing. Aroma is sweet roasted malt, mild rye whisky contribution (more prevalent as it warms), dark fruits, vanilla. Taste is mild chocolate, roasted malt, light tart fruit, rye barrel, vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, slight alcohol burn, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, not a strong specific flavor but a mellow blend where things get along well. Flavor of rye whisky barrel rather muted but burn is more assertive.

On tap at Tørst. Pours pitch black without head. Chocolate, pepper, cardamom, clove, vanilla, caramelised banana, bit of a bourbon kick. Good smooth silky body. Outstanding.
