This beer is all about the hops! Hopfather has notes of black currant, stone fruit, and citrus. The finish is smooth and warm, well balanced between bitterness and malt.
Hopfather started out back in the day when we had leftover Amarillo and Centennial hops. Over the years, we have upgraded the recipe with some new hop varieties to enhance the already beautiful hop foundation.
Tasting Notes: Currants | Stone Fruit | Citrus
Hops: Brewer's Gold, Amarillo, Centennial

Draft at the brewpub. Aroma of fresh hop, citrus and pineapple. Taste had delicious fresh hops, citrus, pineapple, soft pine, tropical fruit and quite some bitterness. Good hop bomb.

Draft 10 oz pour at Russian River, listed as Russian River Hop Father. Pours a high carb golden color with an active fizz head. Super juicy fruit aroma. Tropical, stone fruit. All the good stuff. Flavor is a dominant juicy fruit, thick body, partially sweet finish. Overall this is an awesome IPA, and a side of these guys that I’ve always put well behind their sours. This was amazing.

On tap at the brewpub. Aroma is obviously dominated by hops with strong grapefruit character, with lesser amounts of tropical fruit and pine resin. Faint malt aroma with a nice cracker note to it. Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange with some light copper notes. Small white head that exhibits nice retention and very nice lacing. Flavor has a moderately sweet light cracker malt character to it. The cracker notes recede fairly quickly but the sweetness remains throughout. Medium tropical fruit notes with lots of grapefruit and lighter pine resin character. Moderately high bitterness with a surprisingly dry finish. Lingering grapefruit, pine resin and bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slightly soft and creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Low hop astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a very nice hop forward IPA with some sweetness to balance and add body without detracting from the hop flavors.

Bistro 13th IPA Fest notes (and re-tasted later). Outstanding IPA. Among the best that I’ve tried. I’m surprised that this beer isn’t rated more highly. Light gold body with a foamy white head. The aroma is a pungent mix of pineapple, pine and bright, sweet lemons. The hops intense and refuse to relent in the slightest. It tastes much less bitter than the aroma would suggest and is actually quite drinkable. Dry. Feel suffers ever so slightly from the nonstop onslaught of hops. Excellent IPA. The winner for the day.

A golden IPA with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, a nice sudued c-hops, fragrant, light citrus. Very nice. In mouth, a nice oily and pinhey IPA, more resinous than blind pig, but still very smooth. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, August 17 2009.

Draft at the Bistro’s IPA Fest. I was first in line and this was the first beer i had at the Fest! My rating 2600! They liked this so much Vinnie had to have Guy (savetheales) bring another keg down about 2PM! Nose of citrus and pine and caramel. Clear light amber with a big glass lacing beige head. Flavor was nicely bitter!
