On tap at Hop Cat, Ann Arbor. A clear dark golden beer with a creamy, beige head. Curtains. It’s lightly sour on the nose, with pine cones, resins, some malts and a touch of booze. It’s full bodied, semi sweet and lightly warming on the palate, with hoppy flavors dominating. Bitterness, resins and pine cones. Since vinous notes. Lasting quite hoppy finish. Rather unusual but nice. 150615

Not too bad. Pours a copper-gold, with middling head. Aroma is very bready, with some fruit notes and hops. Flavor is on the sweet side for a DIPA, with lots of biscuitiness, along with some citrus and hops. A bit surprised that a beer company in Brazil could turn out something this good--it’s right up there with some of the better American craft brewers’ versions.

Bottle from Liquor Barn, Burnaby
Hazy amber color, a bit dull, with medium sized head. The aroma is a bit cereally; the cereals are more evident in the flavor, definitively a different profile than the IIPAs from North America, this one is more grainy, which doesn’t play too well: strong bitterness, a bit pithy in the final, with a bit of hop resins and not many more hop qualities.
Mediocre.
