Inspired by a trip to Belgium and designed to resemble the character of lambic found in the town of its namesake, Train to Beersel showcases a slightly higher ABV than you’ll find in most other lambics. As such, the body of the beer is more pronounced, adding a certain roundness to the sour notes while elevating the customary level of funk. Additional complexity is derived from extensive aging in once used French Oak Cabernet Sauvignon barrels and once used American Oak Sauvignon Blanc barrels, and by utilizing the time-honored tradition of bottle conditioning with Brettanomyces Lambicus. It’s an inviting combination that’s full of nuanced turns - and an excursion that’s rarely replicated on this side of the globe.

Anti-Carnaval Tasting 2019 @ Benzai’s Gallic fortress of resistance. Bottle. Unclear golden with white head. Sour grain, floral, grassy, hay, warm horseblanket funk. Sour and moderate bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. Still fake gooze. Pretty good stuff. Compared to Belgian brewers it comes closest to Boon.

Tasting at Tide´s. Hazy pale golden with brief head. Citrus forward with light funk, some straw and apricot. Lacks that belgian funk, otherwise a good one!

750ml bottle. Funky and aggressively sour, tart and earthy with some farmyardy notes, oak, wood, toffee and some sweetness. Pretty good, but lacking the complexity of the Belgian lambic.

Bottle 750ml. @ Scooper Tasting. [ As Bruery Terreux Train To Beersel - 2017 ].Unclear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, fruity malt, moderate to heavy yeasty, horse blanket, barnyard, leather, funky, fruity, vanilla - wood, light earthy, sulfur notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate acidic with a long duration, tart, sour, funky, farmyard, fruit, grapes, apple, vanilla - wood, oak, medium dry.
