Jopen Mooie Nel is een IPA met veel Amerikaanse hop die zorgt voor bitterheid met veel fruitige tonen.
IPA werd in de tijd van lange zeereizen extra zwaar gebrouwen en extra gehopt zodat het in de koloniën gedronken kon worden. Ook in Nederland hadden we onze versie van de IPA oftewel ‘duraebel scheepsbier’ voor Nederlands-Oost-Indië. Via de Amerikaanse Craft Beer Revolution is de IPA teruggekeerd in Europa.

Bottle shared with Višnja 666! Clear golden, small off-white head. Moderately hopped, herbal, malts, biscuit. Dry and hoppy. Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, very nice finish. Very good but not among the best.

Keg at arendsnest. Pours orange, nose is grapefruit and orange, taste is sweet citrus, dry, bitter.

On tap at arendsnest, Amsterdam. Light orange color, almost clear, thick creamy head. West coast style IPA. Big tropical fruity aroma: grapefruit, mango, passionfruit, peach, apricot, bubble gum, orange. Syrupy malts, sugary, bread. Sticky, creamy texture and medium to full body, soft carbontion, smooth finish. Aromatic resin hop, finish is orangey. Taste is bold, full, tasty and filling, mostly sweet with a mild bitter end. Perfect ABV. Good sweet IPA.

Bottle from an Albert Heijn in Ghent. Pours clear orange with a diminishing, frothy, off-white head. The aroma contains flowery and fruity hops, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, grass, yeast and honey. It tastes medium to heavy bitter and light fruity sweet, with a fruity and grassy finish (never aggressive or drying). Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Very smooth and enjoyable.

33cl bottle from Albert heijn, Amsterdam Centraal Station. An amber pour with a thin white head; grapefruit aroma; rich grapefruit taste, with a well balanced bitterness and a malty body; and a fresh grapefruit finish. A good citrusy IPA.

Large rocky head left a froth on a hazy dark orange coloured body. Fruity aroma with sweet orange & biscuit. Medium bodied. Smooth & a little cloying on the finish. Hop forward but there’s caramel hints - sweet orange, malt, pine, grapefruit tastes with a tangy finish.

Eerst gedronken van de tap, later thuis op fles. Een heerlijke IPA. Geurig, mooi van kleur en lekker bitter. Hier hou ik wel van.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 12C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L16458/18 (BBF 17.JAN.2019). AROMA: medium-low oxidized hop aroma (dried grass), followed by médium-low malt background (toffee/almost caramelly). faint orange-like note. APPEARANCE: light amabar color and clear. médium-large ivory head, creamy, with good persistance. TASTE: similar to the aroma with low hop notes (oxidized - dried leaves), followed by a médium malt presence (caramelized). Medium bitterness with an almost dry and bitter finish. PALATE: medium body with medium carbonation. no astringency. OVERALL: an IPA already showing signs of oxidation.
