This was the first beer we ever brewed back in 2000. We are as proud of it today as we were then.
Brewed with all gold ingredients - Golden Promise Pale Malt, Golden naked oats, First Gold Hops, with a Willamette hop finish. Fresh, clean flavour with a hint of grapefruit citrus from the Willamette.

[ As Wylam Gold ].
ABV: 4.0%. Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, fruity malt, light to moderate hoppy, light minerals. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, pale malt, fruity malt, hop bitter, close to metallic bitter, light grassy, light dry, biscuit notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20201007]

Can from Northumbrian Gifts. Appearance - pale yellow with a very light haze. Nose - lemon, custard and brown bread. Taste - caramel and lemon again. Shortbread underlay. Palate - light bodied, creamy and too sweet really. Overall - this is way too sweet for the style. It's also way below the usual standard of this brewery. And deceptive for a tall boy hipster can.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from online. Pours clear yellow-gold with a foamy, white head. Lovely stuff overall, lightly sweet, nice biscuity pale malts, light bitter straw, hints of yeast, pale grains. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Rounded finish, more bready biscuits, hay. Very enjoyable.

440ml can. Golden with a light haze, frothy white head. Aroma of biscuity and crackery malts, grapefruit. Taste is malty, biscuity, cracker, grassy and citrusy hops, grapefruit, long bitter finish. Medium body, smooth, soft carbonation. Excellent golden ale.

Can from rad beer. Light hazed golden beer with a thick white head. Grapefruity and buscuuty aroma. Taste is light sweet fruity and moderately bitter hops. Smooth and quite full body.

Can. Clear golden body with a fluffy white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of earth and broccoli. Flavour of grass and undercooked potato with a hint of white pepper. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft fizz. Simple and a good example of a traditional beer style, not something Wylam are renowned for.

Can. Just a light haze on this gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, fairly dry, decent fine carbonation. The malts are light but dropping much sweetness. Hops bring floral bitterness and just a whisper of citrus. Light dry finish leaves a long bitter linger. Hmm. Comes over like a bitter lager. Needs something else here, some malt sweetness would not go amiss.
