Bottle #2402 from Jeff (zathrus13). Opaque dark brown/black body with reddish highlights and sediment, dissipating tan head. Earthy nose with smoke, molasses, chocolate, coffee, and licorice, in addition to warming alcohol. Vinous body, sweet, with strong coffee notes, also chocolate, molasses, burnt sugars, and licorice; warming with alcohol and notes of oak and red wine. Wonderful, full sweet middle of the palate; plummy. A rich, decadent experience, excellent.

consumed on 1-30-10.....Black with a brown sugar head...its thick and sticky as hell on the lips.....smells pungent with alcohol......I enjoy the brown & black swirls in my glass~~prune & deep dark malt aroma soaked in booze & dark chocolate--but the taste of alcohol is hidden well....the way the alcohol burns is just a tingle on the tip of my tongue....heavy dark and delish, loaded with molasses...extremely well made for this % ---as it sits the flavors get sweeter on the finish...thanks kawa!

500 ml bottle bought at Max’s in Baltimore and brought to DC local tasting. Very dark brown, fine edge bubbles. Aroma of Hershey bar and Starbucks. Taste is bitter cocoa, with low carbonation and light to medium body. Decent, but a bit disappointing.

50cl bottle pours an oily, viscous, opaque black with one ring of white head. Aroma has some rum, light coffee, a little vanilla, a little cherry. Flavor is boozy, malty though, coffee, light nuts, bread, a little yeast, brown sugar, a little grape, maple. Finish is full bodied, sweet and still a little hot. Also a little salty. I think this could be cellared a lot further. I thought parts of this were really good, but I wasn’t sure if it was meshing well as a whole.

Bottle at Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen. Without doubt one of the best beers I have drunk. A lovely full-bodied blend of coffee, chocolate, licorice and roasted tones and some alcohol. Perfect balance and softness. A truly magical beer. I would like to have a few bottles at home!
