500ml can from the Costco German Biergarten Collection. Poured into an old 'Leffe' chalice at my daughters in Laguna Hills on 12th April 2025. Nice ruby hue to the red body, wispy off-white head. Caramel malty nose and initial taste, slightly sweet front; calms down a little mid-sip but the hops are a second consideration in this Bock (as is normal). I enjoyed this and it's always a pleasure to get another Saxony tick when ever I can.

500 ml can from the Costco German Biergarten Collection. Pours a crystal clear, very dark copper color with a small khaki head and good retention. Decent lacing. Caramel malt aroma. The flavor is more toffee than caramel, with a dark malt finish. Sweet, not bitter. Almost a dessert beer. Very smooth and clean. The 6.7% ABV is invisible. Medium body and light carbonation. Good beer.

Canned as Berliner Geschichte Dunkler Bock at 6.7% ABV. Appearance: Blurred chestnut brown with a moderate fizzy off-white head of yero retention. Aroma: Toast and caramel, dried fruit, esters, somewhat metallic. Taste: Medium sweet. Dominant dried fruits (pears, apples, dates etc.), umami yeast, faint hop. Mouth feel: Light to medium body, rapidly disappearing carbonation. Overall: Disappointing.

Tap. Bronze chestnut color, clear, with good creamy foam. Aroma: sweet, caramel, bread crust, thick maltiness, a little honey. Sweet taste, caramel, honey, malt molasses, a little jam and honey, bitter finish, not bad.

Tap at dB’s. Clear reddish brown with creamy beige head. Lots of brown sugar and malts, wort even. Quite some grassy and herbal hops, light toffee and raisins. Very malty brew. Over medium sweet and just medium bitter. Medium bodied with sugary feel.

Keg at Derat, Utrecht, Netherlands, Thursday 1st October 2015. This is the 2014 edition which Eric has aged for a year, lots of caramel, soft and a little chewy, some burnt molasses. I am not a huge fan of Boks but this is good. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
