Sample courtesy of Ratman. Nose is chocolate with a slight bretty note. Black with a medium, lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is tart and chocolaty. Extremely different take on a sour.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe for Big Wood 2015, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, and lots of oak barrels. Flavour is along the same lines, with oak, roast, balsamic and soy sauce. Roasty on the finish, with a great blend of flavours. Very nice.

Draft 6 oz pour at Brouwer’s Big Wood. I think this is quite a hidden gem on their list. At least I didnt expect it to be this damn good. Pours a near black with a lasting tan fizz head. Sour dark fruit up front, but a nice transition to a coffee finish. Perfect mix between a stout and a sour. Very fun beer. Awesome stuff.

12 oz. bottle from Perrys. It pours jet black with a bubbly, tan head. The aroma is inviting with nice notes of oak, dark cherry funk, hints of molasses and red wine. The flavor is the same with rich dark malts against some red wine, pretty heavy oak, high wine-like acidity and a lightly roasted finish. Sourness is strong, but not harsh at all. Rich mouthfeel for the ABV, but fizzy carbonation. Warming and vinous. Very good.

Tap at West Coast Invitational 2015 at 6.5%. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is sour and dark chocolate with wood. Med + body. Flavor is sour/lacto dark chocolate that gets a bit earthy. Overall sour chocolate milk with treacle? Tastes better than that! Really good sour.
