Our Hippy Berliner was such a success that we ebbed to consumer demand and brewed a special edition with the addition of cooling cucumber. Bursting with sweet cucumber notes, balanced by lemon peel and tropical fruits. On the palate this beer is puckering, but very refreshing, full of cucumber, citrus and balanced by light hopping, finishing very clean.

Can shared in Hackney - many thanks to Dave. Pours clear yellow with a creamy, white head. Big cucumber aroma, some lemon peel, flaked wheat. Light sweet flavour with very subtle lemony acidity, some pickle juice, straw, a little salt. Light bodied with massaging carbonation. Pretty clean finish, with further lemon, cucumber and tangy pickle. Fun sauce.

440ml can. Milky, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity and slightly herbal aroma with cucumber background, hints of kiwi fruit and gooseberry, fresh mowed grass, moss, a touch of dill. Taste is tart, fruity and slightly earthy, herbal-spicy, hints of gooseberry, kiwi fruit, moss, grass, cucumber; finish is slightly more fruity, tart and fruit acidic. Not fully integrated cucumber flavours are rather grave, oppressive, earthy, the finish is slightly more unencumbered (not to say "uncucumbered"), a bit closer to the basic Berliner. Not a variety for the better...

Tap at Hair of the Dog, Phrom Phong. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is crisp water cucumber. The flavour is acid light sour, with a watery dry fresh light spicy cucumber palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

From a 440ml can on 6/5/2017 (ABV listed as 4.0%). Pours a clear light yellow/straw with a medium head. the nose is mild but zesty and does actually feature cucumber. Taste wise, it features quite a bit of sharp lemony sour/bitter, with more cucumber in the background. Light bodied with lively carbonation. By no means awful, but exhibits just a touch of harshness overall. Not really my kind of thing style wise either. At least I can say I’ve tried a cucumber beer!

Taster at Mikkeller Seoul. Pours very light with strong cucumber aroma. The flavour is all cucumber up front with a sour wheaty kick to finish. Palate is tight bubbles. It’s a lovely idea, but perhaps the cucumber is a bit much.
