Tried this at a restaurant in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture sitting opposite some monks from the local monastery. Of course the beer is nothing to write home about, but beggars can’t be choosers in these parts.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Cloudy pale yellow colour, white bubbly head and aroma of pale malt, grain, yeasty. Taste is sweetish, malty, grains, some citric & grassy notes with light bitterness. Light bodied, soft carbonation, drying papery bitter finish. Abit bland.

Sweet and surprisingly complex aroma of honey, hay, and even toffee is prominent. Milky golden, full of floaties, thin head. Medium body, sweet honey flavor initially, finishes grassy. Good stuff.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Butters at the 14th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 3/19/11. Pours a hazy pale golden color with a medium creamy white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of grain, corn, mushrooms and a musty note. The taste is grant, peach-like fruit notes and some dusty, musty notes. Thin-medium bodied. Weird beer.

12oz bottle shared by ArgoO. Hazy yellow-orange. Mellow cream corn, sweet. No real hop presence. Thin, oily head. Sessionable, but not even close to World Class. One dimensional.

MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering, January 29, 2011. Thanks for the Tibetian tick, Bob. Yellow. light flavor, drinkable enough, like would I would call a tropical lager. this is a solid pale lager.
