Scottish Sour Ale

Bottle. Color: Hazy murky orangish brown, thin beige head. Aroma: Tart, herbal, fruity notes, some pine tree. Taste: Moderate to over moderate tart, some Balsamico vinegar notes, herbal, juniper, refreshing, wood. Pine notes. Caramel hints. Fruity notes of white grapes and berries. Subtle funky notes. Moderate sweet, light bitterness. Nice one, nice complexity and well balanced.

Bottle from BD Inverurie. It pours hazy deep red - brown with a dissipating off-white head. The aroma is damp oak, funky, bitter - sweet, dark fruits, prune, plum, date, berry skin, blackcurrant cordial, sherbet, sour candy, vinous and jamminess. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, puckering, sour, puckering, vinous, some acidity, sherbet, sour candy, plum, bramble, blackberry, jam, granny smith apple, minerality, oak and a bit of funk with a zingy and eventually drying oak finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. All comes well.

Genuint ekte smak, men en tanke for syrlig og for tynn for min smak, i hvert fall dersom vi tenker at det er en flamsk rød.

Bottle from Brewdog Lothian Road. Appearance - amber with decent lacing. Nose - wood, balsamic, also creosote fence. Funky generally. Taste - initially sour apple, then funk takes over. Balsamic again. Palate - medium bodied. Long, dry, tangy, sour finish. Overall - very nice.
