We bloody love Peelywally and it has been a real passion of ours to get it right. Brewed countless times at home with various ABV (3%-9.3 %!) and with different hops but this is the winner.
In Scots, Peelywally literally means, pale. When you were wee, your mum would say “You look awfy Peelywally” meaning you’re not looking too well. Alternatively, when you see a Scotsman on the first day of his holiday, you could say “He looks Peelywally” as our skin is pale blue and nigh on see through.

330ml can from Beer52 at 4.5%. Cloudy light gold with small white top. Aroma is doughy with citrus pith and a light yeast/earthy note. Taste is more on the grassy bitter side with citrus and grains. Semi-dry, fine to moderate carbonation, medium bodied. A bit 'old hat' in so much as it lacks a hop intensity and is something I would expect to come from an old fashioned regional 'churn it out to the Co-Op' type brewery like Robinsons. It's pleasant enough though.

Third by cask, shared with Finn on the third day of GBBF Winter 20, Astbury Bar. Clingy lacing from a dissipating white head. Next-to-clear warm golden body. Herbal hops on the nose, citric hints. Decent taste of ripe lemon and earthy malts followed by note of resinous bitterness to the finish. Satisfying. (Birmingham 06.02.2020).
