KANDY EXPRESS
– BLACK TRIPEL –
Railway tracks were introduced to the Sri Lankan highlands to transport coffee from the region of ‘Kandy’ to the port of Colombo. This black Tripel has rich and deeply roasted coffee notes. Not from any real coffee thou, but from the chololate and coffee malt we used.
Don’t be fooled. Just enjoy the ride of this rich flavoured beer!

33cl bottle. A very dark brown beer with a huge most good lasting tan head. Aroma of sweet dark malt, coffee and chocolate. Taste of sweet chocolta malt, coffee, nuts, some vanilla, moderate roasted malt. Good!

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of chocolate malt, coffee, licorice, caramel and yeast. Taste has lots of chocolate malt, some roast, mild smoke, coffee, licorice and some tarr-ish yeast. I would call this a stout. Not bad though.

Bottle at home. Black with light tan head. Sweet toasted chocolate malts, coffee, dark chocolate, very fruity, berries, moccha, cherry pie, charcoal. Sweet and bitter, with soft vanilla edge. Over medium body and quite some carbonation, bit milky feel. An interesting beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Kandy Express on 03 Jan 2018 at 12:42 - Score: 7

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Black with a beige head. Roasted malts, light yeast and some smoke. Bittersweet taste with some roasted malts burn. Nice brew but calling this a tripel is a far stretch in my opinion, it's more like a stout.

Black with thin, dark head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of dark roasted malts with burnt coffee. Light yeasty finish. Pleasantly bitter and also quite full bodied.

Sampled @ Eindhovens Bierfestival. Dark brown to black color, ugly looking beige head. Smell and taste are exactly what they say it is: a tripel with some coffee. Aroma and taste suggest it might go tart soon. Average body and carbonation.
