Cherry Ale Aged in Maple Syrup Bourbon Barrels
We took a crisp, light-bodied cherry ale and hid it away in oak barrels that have held both bourbon and maple syrup. After a lengthy stint, it emerged a changed beer, blanketed in notes of warm vanilla and earthy sweetness. The wood proves itself the star of this beer, adding depth and taming the tart cherry while the maple imposes a velvety texture that lingers for not a moment too long.

Draught (Little Pub, Vaasa). Reddish orange colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is cherries, some mild wood, alcohol as well as some mild maple. Flavour is cherries, syrup, some wood, alcohol and mild tart red berries as well. Good in the beginning, but before finishing the glass it already gets a bit too sticky.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy reddish amber with foamy beige head, woodsy cherry aroma, medium carbonation, sweet cherry taste with woodsy flavor, maple syrup-bourbon taste, sweet thin body, long sweetish finish with a bourbon kick at the end. Nicely balanced.

Bottle picked up from Saveur Biere Webshop, Frentin, Nr Lille, France and consumed at home Wednesday 8th June 2022 whilst falling asleep trying to watch Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 6, I finished the beer but not the episode. Reddy/orange the aroma is mostly cherry but with honey (I guess I am actually getting maple syrup and light bourbon and woody touch. A little on the sweet side, however not without its charms, cherry plays its part but the sweetness, with caramel and vanilla tends to run roughshod over the rest. I didn't mind this, it was an interesting beer, which - I happily finished.

Nothing I can see on the label as an adjunct that I dislike. And it is a Founders too. A 12 oz bottle that was bottled on 11/10/21, opened now and flowing into my New Belgium snifter. Ruby-orange is the color with a decent cover of off-white foam. I smell the cherry certainly. The taste, different, I kind of like it. Cherries for sure, mostly sweet with some sour offsetting, syrup, white bread and a bit of booziness. Enjoying the drink for this one time I imagine.

Pours slightly hazy ruby red. It smells of bourbon, cherries, and vanilla. The flavor is very sweet with vanilla accented bourbon, cherries, caramel, oak, and malt. It’s very good though a little less sweetness might be better.

Finally getting to try this. 2022 bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear, rusty reddish amber with a finger of off-white foam that lingers. Nice lacing down the glass. Aromas of bourbon, maple syrup and cherry cordial. As it warms, a nice comforting oaky, vanilla bourbon note drives the nose. More of the same on the palate. Cherry, vanilla, oak and bourbon linger on the finish. A lot of hate for this, but I think it's well executed. Maple and cherry play well with the bourbon barrel.
