Dark brown / pale amber. Thin to medium mouthfeel. Hints of juniper. Aftertaste of hops. Refreshing, although more bitter than a traditional Yule Beer.

500ml swing top bottle, as Sundbytunet Juleøl 2012, at Øltorget, Mathallen Oslo. Shared with the barman. Bubbly off-white head resting over a body in an unclear, dark amber colour. Spotty lacing down the glassware. Fine aroma of raisin and bitter anise. Blended Yuletide flavour of nuts, dried fruits and toffee leading to a smooth bitter fruity finish. Medium bodied. Surely one of the best Norwegian Christmas beers below 4.75 % this season (Oslo, 11.12.2012).

Bottle. A hazy, brown beer with a small, off-white head. The aroma has toffee, bread, pine cones and a faint roasted note. Soft carbonation, medium body, semi-dry. Quite evident bitterness, with a low level of sweetness, as well as some bread, toffee and nuts. Mostly bitter in the finish, with some notes of herbs. Not the typical Christmas beer from a Norwegian point of view, but it certainly suits my tastebuds. 121201

Brownish colour with a fine tan head that leaves a nice lacing. A round mild sweet caramel malt aroma. Medium body with a balanced sweetness and a fine bitterness. Moderate carbonation. Lots of caramel malt in the flavour with a fine hoppy background and some fruity notes. Absolutely one of the best norwegian dunkel named Juleøl.
